Pediatric extraction forceps for removing primary teeth and roots in the upper and lower jaws, smaller than adult forceps. The small beaks fit the short crown of a primary tooth, so the grip is precise even in a small mouth. The permanent tooth germ lies between the roots of a primary molar, so the beaks should not be driven deep — a smaller forceps allows a controlled movement that keeps clear of that area. A spring between the handles reopens the beaks after each grip.
