Tofflemire Matrix Retainer
A Tofflemire matrix retainer for Class II restorations in posterior teeth. It tightens a matrix band around the tooth to form a temporary wall where one is missing. The band locks in the vise, and the knurled knobs tighten it and size the loop to the tooth. Guide slots in the head let the loop exit in different directions, for either side of the arch. Composite or amalgam is packed against the band, which works with a wedge to build contour and contact with the neighboring tooth.
